New Jersey Judiciary’s Foreclosure Mediation Program
The New Jersey Judiciary’s Foreclosure Mediation Program offers free court-ordered mediation services to help homeowners and lenders resolve disputes related to foreclosure. It provides homeowners facing foreclosure an opportunity to meet with their lender and a neutral mediator to explore solutions.
To be eligible for this free mediation, homeowners must not be in bankruptcy, the property must be their primary residence, and it should be a one to three-family residence. The program covers both prime and subprime loans and is available to all homeowners in default or facing foreclosure, regardless of income level.
The program aids homeowners in exploring options like loan modification, forbearance, short sale, or deed-in-lieu of foreclosure. It also helps them understand their legal rights and responsibilities.
This mediation program is a valuable resource in avoiding the costs and uncertainties of the foreclosure process, providing a platform for mutually beneficial solutions between homeowners and lenders.
